In Reception year, children have a foundation year following the early learning goals.
In year 1 and year 2 all children follow the National Curriculum programmes of study for English, Mathematics, Science, Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music, Physical Education and Citizenship.

The children are usually taught in mixed ability year groups and the teachers plan their work together.

Regular staff meetings and planning ensure continuity and progression.

Each teacher has some help in the classroom and we aim to provide as much individual attention as possible.

We aim to use an integrated approach to learning because we know that young children learn primarily through practical and first hand experiences. This means that when parents come into the classroom they will often see children working on several different tasks in small groups or individually. Whole class teaching also takes place when it is appropriate especially during Literacy and Numeracy lessons.

We keep careful records of each individual child's progress and Reports of Achievement are sent home at the end of each school year.
